Tightrope procedure for CCL injuries
Since its inception in 1986, the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center (DVSC) has evaluated and treated thousands of patients for cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injury. Our surgeons have been at the forefront in providing the latest, most current veterinary techniques and surgeries for treatment of this common problem. We feel that each patient referred for evaluation of a cruciate tear is unique, and our treatment recommendations are customized to each pet. When a patient is referred to the DVSC with a CCL injury, we not only provide the definitive repair of the stifle, but we also carefully evaluate the joint for possible meniscal injury, as well as furnish postoperative consultation for physical rehabilitation.
The Tightrope procedure is one option for the treatment of CCL injuries. While we do not feel that every dog referred for a CCL tear is a good candidate for the Tightrope procedure, we want to continue to provide a full armamentarium of procedures for treatment of this disease. Besides the Tightrope procedure, we also continue to offer extracapsular stabilization techniques, tibial plateau leveling osteotomies (TPLO), tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA) and arthroscopic evaluation of the stifle joint. If you have questions about any of these surgeries, or if your client would like to schedule a consult, please feel free to call any of our four locations across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
